Early 20th century Borneo Chiefs Ladder, Ironwood with Copper Su step ladder with affixed copper ball shaped sun and incised designs above, similar to branches with leaves. The ladder has three cylindrical steps, and a face shaped 'shelf' step at the top. Arched above the face the ladder continues with a metal sun-like applied metal ball, and branch or leaf designs carved in high relief. As one climbs the ladder the face is looking down at you giving a comforting and secure feeling. The ladder was cut in modern time with a power saw, typically it would measure well over 8 feet and higher. Size 66 1/2" H x 14" W x 5 1/4" L. Wear commensurate with age and use, well preserved condition overall.
